How to Cook Quinoa – Lunch Recipes
There are a lot of ways on how to cook quinoa but for this article, I’ll share a few of my favorite scrumptious lunch recipes. I grew up eating rice every single day and when I found out about quinoa and the many benefits it offers, I never went back to rice anymore.
Shrimp and quinoa is probably my favorite, fills me up really good and I just love the combination of the ingredients. It’s also easy to whip it up so I make this recipe a lot. To make this, you need 1 cup of uncooked quinoa, 1 ½ cups of water, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 chopped onion, 1 red bell pepper, ½ cup sliced mushrooms, 6 chopped fresh asparagus spears, 1 tablespoon minced ginger, salt and pepper to taste, 1 pound peeled and deveined medium shrimp and 2 tablespoons of lime juice.
Cook the quinoa and then set it aside. Sautee the onion and bell pepper in olive oil, mix in the mushrooms, asparagus and ginger, continue cooking until everything is tender. Season with salt and pepper and then add the shrimp. If the shrimp turns into C-form then it means it’s done. in a large bowl, mix the shrimp with quinoa and toss it with parsley.
Another way on how to cook quinoa for lunch is to mix black beans with it. All you need is 2 ½ to 3 cups of cooked quinoa, 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, chopped onion, chopped garlic, pinch of ground cumin, pinch of cayenne pepper, salt and pepper to taste, 2 cans of drained black beans and chopped cilantro.
Heat the oil and sauté the garlic and onion, mix the quinoa and season it with cumin, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Stir for about 5 minutes and put the rest of the ingredients.

Popcorn Recipes
Popcorn, first invented when the Native Americans would cook corn over their hot campfires, soon to be enjoyed by the pilgrims who came across the Atlantic on the Mayflower. Popcorn has been around for a while, but very few people decide to experiment with this versatile food. It is a vegetable that can be cooked for dessert or a salty treat, and best of all, it goes with everything.
Here are three great popcorn recipes that you can try on a bored evening or experiment for a party you are throwing. try all of them to see which you like the most:
–Bacon-Cheese Popcorn Recipe –Beach Party Popcorn Recipe –Chocolate Caramel Popcorn Recipe
Bacon-Cheese Popcorn
If you want to try a filling, salty type of popcorn this is a great one. It combines three of the most delicious ingredients on the planet, bacon, cheese, and popcorn! you will need four quarts of popped popcorn, a half cup of melted margarine, a half teaspoon of seasoned salt, Hickory-smoked salt, and bacon bits, as well as a half cup of grated American cheese. Because popcorn is only really good when it’s hot you need to work fast. make the popcorn and when its done pour the margarine over the top, sprinkle the rest of the ingredients in and constantly toss so that everything is mixed well.
Beach Party Popcorn
For this type of popcorn you will need a third cup of butter or margarine, a teaspoon of soy sauce, a drop of hot pepper sauce, two quarts of popped popcorn, two cups of seasoned snacks, and a half ounce of bacon-onion dip. making these dishes is all about tossing the ingredients with the warm popcorn-this recipe is no different.
Chocolate Caramel Popcorn
For those of you with a sweet tooth, try this. you need two large boxes of some kind of crunch-n-munch, and a pound of dark chocolate. Spread the crunch-n-munch onto a large cookie sheet, lined with wax-paper. Melt the chocolate over this and then spread the popcorn on top. you can let this sit for a bit and serve, of if you want a harder snack, put it in the refrigerator and serve later. This keeps for a while and is a great snack for your friends and family!
Scary Halloween Cupcake Decorations
The resurgence of the delicate little cupcake over recent years has brought an interest in cupcake decoration which is far more fanciful than just adding icing and a scattering of sprinkles. And what better time than Halloween for anyone to use their imagination and skills to come up with some imaginative scary cupcake decorations?
Would Halloween feel right without the spiders, bats, ghosts and witches of folklore…? To start the ball rolling here are a couple of ideas that are easy to put together but effective — scary spider and bat attack.
What you will need for these decorations are cupcakes made with your favorite recipe, butter cream icing, a few large black jelly beans, licorice bootlace, licorice strap and food coloring in red and orange, plus white decorating gel. The quantities will depend on how many scary cupcakes you plan to decorate.
To make scary spider cupcakes prepare your cupcake top with butter cream colored with red food coloring. In the center of the cupcake place a large jelly bean for the spider body. Cut a further jelly bean in half and place the cut side facing down at one end of the body. This will be the head. Add a couple of dabs of white decorating gel to form eyes. With licorice bootlace cut eight pieces to form the legs. Rather than placing the licorice flat on the cupcake try arching each leg from the body to form a little half loop. This will make the spider look as though it is ready for action rather than having been squashed on the top.
For bat attack cupcake decoration ice the cupcake with orange colored butter cream. Place a black jellybean in the center. Cut licorice straps to form the wings of the bat by scalloping one side of the strap and rounding one end of the other side for wing tips. Place this on either side of the jelly bean. With the white decorating gel, dot two eyes at one end of the jelly bean. Make a couple of fluffy clouds with the decorating gel.
Let your imagination run wild both with ingredients for decorations and with the designs — why not let your scary Halloween cupcakes form a table centerpiece? Ask the kids for their ideas and make it a fun family affair. Cupcake decorations work well for the kid in all of us, young and old, and Halloween is a good time to let the child in us out for a bit of fun.
